We are proud to announce WiO mom... . Jenn Wiggins!
How many children do you have and what are their ages and names?
Madelynn (nicknamed Mad-dog) who is 5 years old and Daisy (nicknamed Daushie) who is 4!
What does a typical day look like for you? Both of my girls were in school this year which was quite a different experience! On our summer days during the week, both the girls come in for a snuggle & sometimes even fall back to sleep-- which is glorious when they do! After that we get up, have a little something to eat and walk our dog (Tucker, a mini schnauzer,) go for a run (girls on their scooters) and then hit the pool! We are very lucky to have a pool in our apartment complex. We then eat lunch and usually do a craft of some kind, coloring, cut & paste or sometimes even glitter.. .only outside though! The girls love Power Rangers and Kung Foo Panda, so they usually watch a show or two while dinner is being prepared. We are also lucky because Daddy LOVES to cook! Both the girls take hip-hop once a week, Daisy does gymnastics at WiO and Maddie takes piano.
For the last 7 years, we have had the most exciting experience because we get to go up to our cabin in the Catskills! It's really nice to be able to get out of the city's 'busy-ness' on weekends and watch the girls enjoy the outdoors and have fun! They catch butterflies, dig in the mud, go on the four-wheeler, pick blackberries, ride the tractor helping Daddy cut the grass, catch newts, tadpoles and even snakes. In the winter we go sledding and ice skate on a rink that Daddy made!
What is your favorite WiO class and why? "Go mommy" is my favorite! Let's be honest here-- Mommy gets a work out while the kido's get to play! It is a win-win! I tell the girls we are going to the studio and they have their shoes on so fast, they're ready to go before I am! This is not usually the case any other time I am trying to get out the door!
What keeps you motivated?
Wanting to look good and feel my best. When I feel good about myself, I have more confidence and things seem to just run a lot smoother. In my world, the negatives need to be sweated out!
What are your favorite healthy snack choices that your kids love? Both the girls like crinkle-cut cucumbers and bananas with peanut butter.
What is something your kids have taught you? Life is too short! Before the girls were born we had a son named Kyle. He passed away at the tender age of 6 months old because of congenital heart defects. He went through many ups and downs during his very short life. Having my son- taught me to never judge anyone. You have no idea where they have been or where they are going. Secondly, to make each day count. Don't save something for later because later may never come! Third, sitting in a fort with a flash light is still fun!
Words of advice you live by? It is not about what you don't have, it is about "doing"with what you do have!
